Issue 5949: fixed IMAP4_SSL hang when the IMAP server response is

Scott Dial. The new tests include a test harness which will
make it easier to add additional tests.

Piers obviously couldn't have passed on any platform. Fiddling it so it
works (for a meaning of "works" no stronger than "doesn't fail" <wink>).
