578fbbe3aa [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: rewrite some generic ir.Nod calls
An automated rewrite is going to remove the bulk of the calls
to ir.Nod and friends. This CL takes care of the ones that don't
have fixed opcodes and so aren't amenable to automatic rewriting.

Passes buildall w/ toolstash -cmp.

Replay of CL 275886, lost to the bad-merge history rewrite.

5ae70b85c6 [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: cleanup preparing for concrete types, 2
Avoid using the same variable for two different concrete
Node types in other files (beyond walk). This will smooth the
introduction of specific constructors, replacing ir.Nod and friends.

Passes buildall w/ toolstash -cmp.

Replay of CL 275885, lost to the bad-merge history rewrite.

fea898a4b0 [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: intercept the making of OADDR nodes
This is a mechanical change to intercept the construction of
all OADDR nodes. We will use the new nodAddr and nodAddrAt
functions to compute the Addrtaken bit.

7c9b6b1ca2 [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: clean up in preparation for statement Nodes
Using statement nodes restricts the set of valid SetOp operations,
because you can't SetOp across representation. Rewrite various
code to avoid crossing those as-yet-unintroduced boundaries.

In particular, code like

        x, y := v.(T)
        x, y := f()
        x, y := m[k]
        x, y := <-c

starts out with Op = OAS2, and then it turns into a specific Op
OAS2DOTTYPE, OAS2FUNC, OAS2MAPR, OAS2RECV, and then
later in walk is lowered to an OAS2 again.

In the middle, the specific forms move the right-hand side from
n.Rlist().First() to n.Right(), and then the conversion to OAS2 moves
it back. This is unnecessary and makes it hard for these all to
share an underlying Node implementation.

This CL changes these specific forms to leave the right-hand side
in n.Rlist().First().

Similarly, OSELRECV2 is really just a temporary form of OAS2.
This CL changes it to use same fields too.

Finally, this CL fixes the printing of OAS2 nodes in ir/fmt.go,
which formerly printed n.Right() instead of n.Rlist().
This results in a (correct!) update to cmd/compile/internal/logopt's
expected output: ~R0 = <N> becomes ~R0 = &y.b.

Passes buildall w/ toolstash -cmp.

4e7685ef1a [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: add custom type syntax Node implementations
The type syntax is reused to stand in for the actual type once typechecked,
to avoid updating all the possible references to the original type syntax.
So all these implementations allow changing their Op from the raw syntax
like OTMAP to the finished form OTYPE, even though obviously the
representation does not change.

Passes buildall w/ toolstash -cmp.

41f3af9d04 [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: replace *Node type with an interface Node [generated]
The plan is to introduce a Node interface that replaces the old *Node pointer-to-struct.

The previous CL defined an interface INode modeling a *Node.

This CL:
 - Changes all references outside internal/ir to use INode,
along with many references inside internal/ir as well.
 - Renames Node to node.
 - Renames INode to Node

So now ir.Node is an interface implemented by *ir.node, which is otherwise inaccessible,
and the code outside package ir is now (clearly) using only the interface.

The usual rule is never to redefine an existing name with a new meaning,
so that old code that hasn't been updated gets a "unknown name" error
instead of more mysterious errors or silent misbehavior. That rule would
caution against replacing Node-the-struct with Node-the-interface,
as in this CL, because code that says *Node would now be using a pointer
to an interface. But this CL is being landed at the same time as another that
moves Node from gc to ir. So the net effect is to replace *gc.Node with ir.Node,
which does follow the rule: any lingering references to gc.Node will be told
it's gone, not silently start using pointers to interfaces. So the rule is followed
by the CL sequence, just not this specific CL.

Overall, the loss of inlining caused by using interfaces cuts the compiler speed
by about 6%, a not insignificant amount. However, as we convert the representation
to concrete structs that are not the giant Node over the next weeks, that speed
should come back as more of the compiler starts operating directly on concrete types
and the memory taken up by the graph of Nodes drops due to the more precise
structs. Honestly, I was expecting worse.

84e2bd611f [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: introduce cmd/compile/internal/ir [generated]
If we want to break up package gc at all, we will need to move
the compiler IR it defines into a separate package that can be
imported by packages that gc itself imports. This CL does that.
It also removes the TINT8 etc aliases so that all code is clear
about which package things are coming from.

This CL is automatically generated by the script below.
See the comments in the script for details about the changes.

18573aea3c [dev.regabi] cmd/compile: clean up flag handling [generated]
The flag values have grown fairly haphazard, with no organization
or even common naming convention. This CL moves all flag values
into the Flag struct (formerly misnamed Debug), except for a few
that live in Ctxt fields instead.

This CL is entirely automated changes.
A followup CL will make a few manual cleanups, leaving this CL
completely automated and easier to regenerate during merge
conflicts.

Cleaning up flags is necessary because the printing routines
look at some of them, and the printing routines need to move
out of package gc to a new package shared by gc and any
other packages that split out of gc.

fe23ba4a14 runtime: eliminate scase.kind field
Currently, we include a "kind" field on scase to distinguish the three
kinds of cases in a select statement: sends, receives, and defaults.

This commit removes by kind field by instead arranging for the
compiler to always place sends before receives, and to provide their
counts separately. It also passes an explicit "block bool" parameter
to avoid needing to include a default case in the array.

It's safe to shuffle cases like this because the runtime will
randomize the order they're polled in anyway.

d36bc7d78a runtime: split PCs out of scase
Per-case PCs are only needed for race detector builds, so this allows
skipping allocating stack space for them for non-race builds.

It's possible to arrange the PCs and order arrays consecutively in
memory so that we could just reuse the order0 pointer to identify
both. However, there's more risk of that silently going wrong, so this
commit passes them as separate arguments for now. We can revisit this
in the future.

2fc6366fb5 cmd/compile: remove OCASE and rename OXCASE to OCASE
We used to use OXCASE to represent general, possibly multi-valued
cases, and then desugar these during walk into single-value cases
represented by OCASE.

In CL 194660, we switched to eliminated the desugaring step and
instead handle the multi-valued cases directly, which eliminates the
need for an OCASE Op. Instead, we can simply remove OCASE, and rename
OXCASE to just OCASE.

Passes toolstash-check.

Primarily, this is just preparation for having the compiler open-code
selectsend, selectrecv, and selectdefault.

As a minor benefit, order can now be layed out separately on the stack
in the pointer-free segment, so it won't take up space in the
function's stack pointer maps.

a3b3284ddc cmd/compile: prevent untyped types from reaching walk
We already require expressions to have already been typechecked before
reaching walk. Moreover, all untyped expressions should have been
converted to their default type by walk.

However, in practice, we've been somewhat sloppy and inconsistent
about ensuring this. In particular, a lot of AST rewrites ended up
leaving untyped bool expressions scattered around. These likely aren't
harmful in practice, but it seems worth cleaning up.

The two most common cases addressed by this CL are:

1) When generating OIF and OFOR nodes, we would often typecheck the
conditional expression, but not apply defaultlit to force it to the
expression's default type.

2) When rewriting string comparisons into more fundamental primitives,
we were simply overwriting r.Type with the desired type, which didn't
propagate the type to nested subexpressions. These are fixed by
utilizing finishcompare, which correctly handles this (and is already
used by other comparison lowering rewrites).

Lastly, walkexpr is extended to assert that it's not called on untyped
expressions.

Fixes #23834.

7f88d3c121 cmd/compile: remove some more gotos in gc
Split typecheckrange into two, separating the bigger chunk of code that
takes care of the range expression. It had to sometimes exit early,
which was done via a goto in the larger func. This lets us simplify many
declarations and the flow of the code. While at it, also replace the
toomany int with a bool.

In the case of walkselect, split it into two funcs too since using a
defer for all the trailing work would be a bit much. It also lets us
simplify the declarations and the flow of the code, since now
walkselectcases has a narrower scope and straightforward signature.

Also replace the gotos in typecheckaste with a lineno defer.

c310c688ff cmd/compile, runtime: simplify multiway select implementation
This commit reworks multiway select statements to use normal control
flow primitives instead of the previous setjmp/longjmp-like behavior.
This simplifies liveness analysis and should prevent issues around
"returns twice" function calls within SSA passes.

test/live.go is updated because liveness analysis's CFG is more
representative of actual control flow. The case bodies are the only
real successors of the selectgo call, but previously the selectsend,
selectrecv, etc. calls were included in the successors list too.

Updates #19331.

d3c79d324a cmd/compile/internal/gc: remove oconv(op, 0) calls
Updates #15462

Automatic refactor with sed -e.

Replace all oconv(op, 0) to string conversion with the raw op value
which fmt's %v verb can print directly.

The remaining oconv(op, FmtSharp) will be replaced with op.GoString and
%#v in the next CL.

8f2e780e8a cmd/compile/internal: unexport gc.Oconv
Updates #15462

Semi automatic change with gofmt -r and hand fixups for callers outside
internal/gc.

All the uses of gc.Oconv outside cmd/compile/internal/gc were for the
Oconv(op, 0) form, which is already handled the Op.String method.

Replace the use of gc.Oconv(op, 0) with op itself, which will call
Op.String via the %v or %s verb. Unexport Oconv.

34699bc7a8 cmd/compile: reduce use of **Node parameters
Escape analysis has a hard time with tree-like
structures (see #13493 and #14858).
This is unlikely to change.
As a result, when invoking a function that accepts
a **Node parameter, we usually allocate a *Node
on the heap. This happens a whole lot.

This CL changes functions from taking a **Node
to acting more like append: It both modifies
the input and returns a replacement for it.

Because of the cascading nature of escape analysis,
in order to get the benefits, I had to modify
almost all such functions. The remaining functions
are in racewalk and the backend. I would be happy
to update them as well in a separate CL.

This CL was created by manually updating the
function signatures and the directly impacted
bits of code. The callsites were then automatically
updated using a bespoke script:
https://gist.github.com/josharian/046b1be7aceae244de39

For ease of reviewing and future understanding,
this CL is also broken down into four CLs,
mailed separately, which show the manual
and the automated changes separately.
They are CLs 20990, 20991, 20992, and 20993.

Passes toolstash -cmp.

26594c3dfd runtime: use indexes for select lock order
Currently the select lock order is a []*hchan. We're going to need to
refer to things other than the channel itself in lock order shortly,
so switch this to a []uint16 of indexes into the select cases. This
parallels the existing representation for the poll order.

e4a95b6343 runtime: record channel in sudog
Given a G, there's currently no way to find the channel it's blocking
on. We'll need this information to fix a (probably theoretical) bug in
select and to implement concurrent stack shrinking, so record the
channel in the sudog.
