This CL is the mostly mechanical changes from rsc's Go 1.2 based NaCl branch, specifically 39cb35750369 to 500771b477cf from https://code.google.com/r/rsc-go13nacl. This CL does not include working NaCl support, there are probably two or three more large merges to come.
CL 15750044 is not included as it involves more invasive changes to the linker which will need to be merged separately.

os: don't ignore LStat errors in Readdir. If it's ENOENT,
on the second pass, just treat it as missing. If it's another
error, it's real.
path/filepath: use ReaddirNames instead of Readdir in Walk,
in order to obey the documented WalkFunc contract of returning
each walked item's LStat error, if any.

This CL restores the Go 1.1.2 semantics for os.File's Readdir method.
The code in Go 1.1.2 was rewritten mainly because it looked buggy.
This new version attempts to be clearer but still provide the 1.1.2 results.
The important diff is not this CL's version against tip but this CL's version
against Go 1.1.2.

The changes from Go 1.1.2 are stylistic, not semantic:
1. Use lstat instead of Lstat, for testing (done before this CL).
2. Make error handling in loop body look more like an error case.
3. Use separate error variable name in loop body, to be clear
we are not trying to influence the final return result.

The set of errors forwarded by the os package varied with system and
was therefore non-portable.
Three helpers added for portable error checking: IsExist, IsNotExist, and IsPermission.
One or two more may need to come, but let's keep the set very small to discourage

This reduces the overhead necessary to work with OS-specific
file details, hides the implementation of FileStat, and
preserves the implementation-specific nature of Sys.
Expressions such as:
stat.(*os.FileInfo).Sys.(*syscall.Stat_t).Uid
fi1.(*os.FileStat).SameFile(fi2.(*os.FileStat))

OS X 10.6 doesn't do O_CLOEXEC.
OS X 10.7 does.
For now, always fall back to using syscall.CloseOnExec on darwin.
This can removed when 10.6 is old news, or if we find a
way to cheaply & reliably detect 10.6 vs 10.7 at runtime.

An experiment: allow structs to be copied even if they
contain unexported fields. This gives packages the
ability to return opaque values in their APIs, like reflect
does for reflect.Value but without the kludgy hacks reflect
resorts to.
In general, we trust programmers not to do silly things
like *x = *y on a package's struct pointers, just as we trust
programmers not to do unicode.Letter = unicode.Digit,
but packages that want a harder guarantee can introduce
an extra level of indirection, like in the changes to os.File
in this CL or by using an interface type.
All in one CL so that it can be rolled back more easily if
we decide this is a bad idea.

The environment is needed by package time, which
we want not to depend on os (so that os can use
time.Time), so push down into syscall.
Delete syscall.Sleep, now unnecessary.
The package os environment API is preserved;
it is only the implementation that is moving to syscall.
Delete os.Envs, which was undocumented,
uninitialized on Windows and Plan 9, and
not maintained by Setenv and Clearenv.
Code can call os.Environ instead.

The go/build package already recognizes
system-specific file names like
mycode_darwin.go
mycode_darwin_386.go
mycode_386.s
However, it is also common to write files that
apply to multiple architectures, so a recent CL added
to go/build the ability to process comments
listing a set of conditions for building. For example:
// +build darwin freebsd openbsd/386
says that this file should be compiled only on
OS X, FreeBSD, or 32-bit x86 OpenBSD systems.
These conventions are not yet documented
(hence this long CL description).
This CL adds build comments to the multi-system
files in the core library, a step toward making it
possible to use go/build to build them.
With this change go/build can handle crypto/rand,
exec, net, path/filepath, os/user, and time.
os and syscall need additional adjustments.
