3b4d428ca0 encoding/json: modernize tests
There are no changes to what is being tested.
No test cases were removed or added.

Changes made:
* Use a local implementation of test case position marking. See #52751.
* Use consistent names for all test tables and variables.
* Generally speaking, follow modern Go style guide for tests.
* Move global tables local to the test function if possible.
* Make every table entry run in a distinct testing.T.Run.

The purpose of this change is to make it easier to perform
v1-to-v2 development where we want v2 to support close to
bug-for-bug compatibility when running in v1 mode.

Annotating each test case with the location of the test data
makes it easier to jump directly to the test data itself
and understand why this particular case is failing.

Having every test case run in its own t.Run makes it easier
to isolate a particular failing test and work on fixing the code
until that test case starts to pass again.

Unfortunately, many tests are annotated with an empty name.
An empty name is better than nothing, since the testing framework
auto assigns a numeric ID for duplicate names.
It is not worth the trouble to give descriptive names to each
of the thousands of test cases.

2580d0e08d all: gofmt -w -r 'interface{} -> any' src
And then revert the bootstrap cmd directories and certain testdata.
And adjust tests as needed.

Not reverting the changes in std that are bootstrapped,
because some of those changes would appear in API docs,
and we want to use any consistently.
Instead, rewrite 'any' to 'interface{}' in cmd/dist for those directories
when preparing the bootstrap copy.

A few files changed as a result of running gofmt -w
not because of interface{} -> any but because they
hadn't been updated for the new //go:build lines.

Fixes #49884.

b1a48af7e8 encoding/json: properly encode strings with ",string" again
golang.org/cl/193604 fixed one bug when one encodes a string with the
",string" option: if SetEscapeHTML(false) is used, we should not be
using HTML escaping for the inner string encoding. The CL correctly
fixed that.

The CL also tried to speed up this edge case. By avoiding an entire new
call to Marshal, the new Issue34127 benchmark reduced its time/op by
45%, and lowered the allocs/op from 3 to 2.

However, that last optimization wasn't correct:

Since Go 1.2 every string can be marshaled to JSON without error
even if it contains invalid UTF-8 byte sequences. Therefore
there is no need to use Marshal again for the only reason of
enclosing the string in double quotes.

JSON string encoding isn't just about adding quotes and taking care of
invalid UTF-8. We also need to escape some characters, like tabs and
newlines.

The new code failed to do that. The bug resulted in the added test case
failing to roundtrip properly; before our fix here, we'd see an error:

invalid use of ,string struct tag, trying to unmarshal "\"\b\f\n\r\t\"\\\"" into string

If you pay close attention, you'll notice that the special characters
like tab and newline are only encoded once, not twice. When decoding
with the ",string" option, the outer string decode works, but the inner
string decode fails, as we are now decoding a JSON string with unescaped
special characters.

The fix we apply here isn't to go back to Marshal, as that would
re-introduce the bug with SetEscapeHTML(false). Instead, we can use a
new encode state from the pool - it results in minimal performance
impact, and even reduces allocs/op further. The performance impact seems
fair, given that we need to check the entire string for characters that
need to be escaped.

	Issue34127-8 2.00 ± 0% 1.00 ± 0% -50.00% (p=0.000 n=8+8)

Instead of adding another standalone test, we convert an existing
"string tag" test to be table-based, and add another test case there.

One test case from the original CL also had to be amended, due to the
same problem - when escaping '<' due to SetEscapeHTML(true), we need to
end up with double escaping, since we're using ",string".

Fixes #38173.

It wasn't obeyed in the case where the MarshalJSON method uses a pointer

21af0c1699 encoding/json: get rid of the stream_test.go TODOs
TestRawMessage now passes without the need for the RawMessage field to
be a pointer. The TODO dates all the way back to 2010, so I presume the
issue has since been fixed.

TestNullRawMessage tested the decoding of a JSON null into a
*RawMessage. The existing behavior was correct, but for the sake of
completeness a non-pointer RawMessage field has been added too. The
non-pointer field behaves differently, as one can read in the docs:

To unmarshal JSON into a value implementing the Unmarshaler
interface, Unmarshal calls that value's UnmarshalJSON method,
including when the input is a JSON null.

2d3599e57d encoding/json: encode struct field names ahead of time
Struct field names are static, so we can run HTMLEscape on them when
building each struct type encoder. Then, when running the struct
encoder, we can select either the original or the escaped field name to
write directly.

When the encoder is not escaping HTML, using the original string works
because neither Go struct field names nor JSON tags allow any characters
that would need to be escaped, like '"', '\\', or '\n'.

When the encoder is escaping HTML, the only difference is that '<', '>',
and '&' are allowed via JSON struct field tags, hence why we use
HTMLEscape to properly escape them.

All of the above lets us encode field names with a simple if/else and
WriteString calls, which are considerably simpler and faster than
encoding an arbitrary string.

While at it, also include the quotes and colon in these strings, to
avoid three WriteByte calls in the loop hot path.

Also added a few tests, to ensure that the behavior in these edge cases
is not broken. The output of the tests is the same if this optimization
is reverted.

34b17d4dc5 encoding/json: rename Indent method to SetIndent
CL 21057 added this method during the Go 1.7 cycle
(so it is not yet released and still possible to revise).

This makes it clearer that the method is not doing something
(like func Indent does), but just changing a setting about doing
something later.

Also document that this is in some sense irreversible.
I think that's probably a mistake but the original CL discussion
claimed it as a feature, so I'll leave it alone.

For #6492.

4aea7a12b6 encoding/json: change DisableHTMLEscaping to SetEscapeHTML
DisableHTMLEscaping is now SetEscapeHTML, allowing the escaping
to be toggled, not just disabled. This API is new for Go 1.7,
so there are no compatibility concerns (quite the opposite,
the point is to fix the API before we commit to it in Go 1.7).

519474451a all: make copyright headers consistent with one space after period
This is a subset of https://golang.org/cl/20022 with only the copyright
header lines, so the next CL will be smaller and more reviewable.

Go policy has been single space after periods in comments for some time.

The copyright header template at:

    https://golang.org/doc/contribute.html#copyright

also uses a single space.

Make them all consistent.

0cf48b4d91 encoding/json: add JSON streaming parse API
This change adds new methods to Decoder.

 * Decoder.Token steps through a JSON document, returning a value for each token.
 * Decoder.Decode unmarshals the entire value at the token stream's current
position (in addition to its existing function in a stream of JSON values)
